Undergraduate Admissions Events

In addition to visiting high schools to connect with students, school counselors and college supporters, Undergraduate Admissions hosts a variety of events each year to recruit and enroll prospective students to the University of Georgia.

Recruitment Events

APS Days

The Atlanta Public Schools and UGA Partnership connects high school students who might not be considering UGA for their college education with meaningful opportunities to explore college and envision their future at the University of Georgia.

Campus Visit Experience

The UGA Campus Visit Experience is a two-hour experience that includes a brief admissions presentation followed by a 90-minute tour of campus. The tour consists of a driving portion on a campus bus and an hour-long walking tour of historic north campus. Space is limited. Registration is required for all guests.

Compass

The Compass Middle School Outreach program introduces eighth graders to postsecondary opportunities and the college admissions process. Through this program, students connect with current UGA students, explore scholarship options, tour North Campus, and experience dining on campus, building early awareness and excitement for higher education.

Discover Georgia

Discover Georgia is an event aimed at high-achieving rising seniors who have been recognized as Georgia Certificate of Merit (COM) recipients. This event features presentations from admissions, a panel of current students, a parent alumni panel, and various other components designed to promote higher education and the opportunities available at UGA. Due to space limitations, this event is by invitation only. Selected students will receive an email when registration is open.

Evening with UGA

An Evening with UGA is an event designed to help students and their families learn more about the opportunities available to UGA students and gain insights into the first-year application process. This event occurs virtually and in-person at select locations throughout the recruitment cycle.

Group Campus Visit Experience

The Group Campus Visit Experience for high school groups includes a brief presentation by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and a walking tour of campus led by student Tour Leaders from the Visitors Center. Groups are limited to a maximum of 50 participants per group.

Peach State Tour

The Peach State Tour is a series of in-person and virtual events that provide students and their supporters across Georgia with valuable admissions and financial aid information. Representatives from the University of Georgia, Augusta University, Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, and the Georgia Student Finance Commission unite to help attendees explore their higher education options. Registration for the Peach State Tour opens in early August.

Road Dawgs

Road Dawgs is an outreach program that inspires high school students across Georgia to see the possibilities for their future and consider higher education. UGA students visit schools, share their college experiences, answer questions, and encourage younger students to explore the benefits of a college degree.

Virtual Transfer Information Session

Undergraduate Admissions offers prospective Transfer students the opportunity to learn more about the application and transfer process through our Virtual Transfer Information Sessions. These sessions last one hour and consist of a brief presentation by Admissions and the opportunity for live Q&A.

Admitted Student Events

Admitted Student Reception

The Admitted Student Reception is an event hosted by Undergraduate Admissions to celebrate newly admitted students and their families. This event will bring together newly admitted students, administration, alumni, and staff. Space is limited, and admitted students will receive an email when registration opens.

Admitted Student Campus Visit Experience

This Campus Visit Experiences is tailored to meet the needs of admitted students who are in the process of making their college decision. This visit includes a brief presentation by a student leader followed by a 90-minute tour of campus. The tour consists of a driving portion on a campus bus and an hour-long walking tour of historic north campus. Space is limited, and registration will be available for admitted students through their applicant status page which does require their unique login information.

New Dawgs

New Dawgs is a series of on-campus events for admitted first-year students and their families. These events give students the chance to explore UGA’s campus, hear from current students, faculty, and staff, and decide if UGA is the right fit. Space is limited, and admitted students will receive an email when registration opens.

School Counselor Events

High School Advisory Council

UGA’s High School Advisory Council provides an opportunity to gather valuable feedback and recommendations from our high school counseling colleagues on our admissions processes, procedures, publications, and overall messaging. Participation in the Advisory Council is by invitation only, and selected counselors will be notified directly.

Peach State Tour

The Peach State Tour is a series of virtual events that provide counselors with valuable admissions and financial aid information. Representatives from the University of Georgia, Augusta University, Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, and the Georgia Student Finance Commission unite to help attendees explore their higher education options. Registration for the Peach State Tour opens in early August.

Virtual Counselor Sessions

The UGA Virtual Counselor Sessions is a series of virtual events designed for school counselors. Various sessions focus on different aspects of the UGA admissions process and allow for live Q&A with our team. Each session highlights different aspects of the UGA admissions process and includes live Q&A with our team. Registration details are shared via email to counselors and typically opens in late August or early September.

Rural Counselor Program

UGA’s Rural Counselor program is designed for school counselors from rural parts of Georgia to engage with Undergraduate Admissions and get to know more about the broader UGA community. Due to space limitations, this event is by invitation only. Counselors will receive an email when registration is open.
