Valedictorians and Salutatorians

Since 2000, the University of Georgia has guaranteed admission to the top two graduates of all SACS-accredited high schools in Georgia by final decision release (mid-to-late March) for the University of Georgia’s First-Year Class for the Fall or Spring term, provided that the student meet the below criteria.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Submit an application for first-year admission by the Early Action or Regular Decision deadlines
  • Submit all supporting materials to complete their application by the respective deadline
  • Meet Georgia Board of Regents minimum requirements for admission to a USG Research university
  • Have their school class rank verified by a school official prior to our final decision date
  • Attend an accredited Georgia high school with 50 or more graduates

Designating Class Ranking

UGA Admissions will notify Georgia school counselors when the designation period opens in the UGA Counselor Portal.

A graduate wearing a cap and gown stands facing a historic black iron arch, framed by tall trees and bright sunlight. The tassel hangs from the graduation cap, and a light-colored academic building is visible in the background through the archway. The scene captures a symbolic moment of reflection and transition on campus.
