Dual Enrollment Applicants

The UGA Dual Enrollment program allows exceptional local high school students to take university‑level courses at UGA, while still completing high school graduation requirements at their high school. This opportunity is designed for students who have exhausted the most rigorous courses offered at their high school and are ready to continue their academic development in a college environment.

Who is eligible for Dual Enrollment at UGA?

Dual Enrollment is only available to high-achieving high school students who:

  • Are currently enrolled in high school
  • Are a resident of one of the following Georgia counties surrounding the greater Athens area: Banks, Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Franklin, Greene, Hart, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Stephens, or Walton
  • Have exhausted most of the rigor courses offered at their high school

Because Dual Enrollment students are treated as regular UGA students, Dual Enrollment students are expected to be:

  • Academically ready for college‑level coursework
  • Critical thinkers and independent learners
  • Engaged in a rigorous and fast-paced learning environment
  • Organized and independent in managing their time and coursework
  • Socially mature and responsible

Autumn-colored leaves frame the top of the image, and a brick building with large windows stands in the background. The scene captures a quiet moment of campus transit surrounded by warm, natural light.

Dual Enrollment Admission Criteria

UGA Admissions evaluates Dual Enrollment applicants using the same holistic review process used for first-year applicants. We look at academic strength, course rigor, test scores, and other experiences that show college readiness. A full list of factors considered can be found on the First-Year Applicant page. Additionally, it is important for Dual Enrollment applicants to keep track of Admission Deadlines.
