If it has been some time since you were last in a classroom, the application process may feel unfamiliar. Your admission path will depend on your previous academic experience. Most applicants will apply through one of the options below.

Before applying, complete the Returning Service Members Form to determine whether you qualify for additional assistance.

Transfer Admission

Transfer Admission is designed for students who have completed at least 30 semester hours of transferable credit at a regionally accredited institution. Applicants should review the Transfer Admission page, and familiarize themselves with the admission deadlines. When ready, submit the Transfer application.

Nontraditional Admission

Nontraditional Admission is intended for Athens‑area students who have been out of high school for five or more years. Applicants should apply using the Nontraditional application. Additional details about eligibility and the review process can be found on the Nontraditional Applicants page.

First-Year Admission

First‑Year Admission is for students who have graduated from high school within the past five years and have not attended another college or university. Applicants must submit the First‑Year application, should review the First-Year Criteria, and familiarize themselves with the admission deadlines.

Admission to the University of Georgia is competitive, and academic performance is the primary factor in our review. We also recognize that many students take nontraditional paths to higher education, and we welcome the experiences veterans bring to our campus.
