First-year applicants attending a Georgia public or private high school are strongly encouraged to submit an official high school transcript through GAfutures instead of self-reporting grades on the Common App.
What is a GAfutures transcript? 
A GAfutures transcript is an electronic high school transcript that Georgia students can send directly to UGA Admissions through the GAfutures platform. This is the same transcript submitted to the Georgia Student Finance Commission and used to determine eligibility for the HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarships.
Why is UGA Admissions strongly encouraging Georgia students to submit a GAfutures transcript?
UGA Admissions strongly encourages Georgia public or private high school students to submit a GAfutures transcript because it provides a complete and consistent academic record directly from the high school. Receiving transcripts electronically through GAfutures gives UGA Admissions consistent academic data for thousands of applicants, reduces the need for manual grade calculations, and helps keep the admissions review process on track for timely decisions.
For students, submitting a GAfutures transcript simplifies the application process because it eliminates the need to self-report grades on the Common App. This reduces the possibility of reporting errors and allows UGA to review official transcript information directly from the source.
Can I submit a GAfutures transcript instead of self-reporting my grades?
Yes. Georgia first-year applicants have two options for providing their academic record:

Do I have to submit a GAfutures transcript?
No. A GAfutures transcript is not required, but it is strongly encouraged for students attending a Georgia public or private high school. Students who choose not to submit a GAfutures transcript must self-report their grades on the Common App.
Who can submit a GAfutures transcript?
Students attending a Georgia public or private high school can submit a GAfutures transcript as part of the application process. Accredited Georgia public and private high schools provide transcript data through GAfutures. If you are unsure whether your school participates, contact your school’s registrar, records office, or counseling department.
What happens after I choose to submit a GAfutures transcript?

How long does it take for UGA to receive my GAfutures transcript?
In most cases, your application checklist should be updated within approximately two business days after you request your transcript through GAfutures. Students are encouraged to request transcripts well in advance of application deadlines to allow time for processing.
My school does not allow students to request transcripts through GAfutures. What should I do?
Some high schools use SchooLinks, Naviance, SCOIR, or another platform to submit transcripts and may have restricted students from requesting transcripts through GAfutures. Students who encounter this at their school should work directly with their high school counseling office to submit their GAfutures transcript to UGA.
How are weighted grades on a GAfutures transcript reviewed by UGA?
UGA reviews each applicant’s academic record using its own admissions review process. For schools that add weight directly to course grades, those weights are removed by Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) to ensure a consistent evaluation of all applicants.
Is my HOPE GPA and my UGA GPA calculated the same?

How will this help me in the admissions process?
A GAfutures transcript helps create a more consistent review process for Georgia applicants. Regardless of how your high school calculates weighted grades, UGA reviews all transcripts using the same admissions evaluation process and gives appropriate consideration to rigorous coursework, including AP and IB courses.
Can my school counselor send a transcript through The Common App, SCOIR, Naviance, or Parchment instead?
Yes. UGA accepts transcripts submitted through verified services such as The Common App, SCOIR, Naviance, and Parchment. If you submit a GAfutures transcript, an additional transcript submission from your school counselor is generally not necessary, but we are fine to have an additional transcript for your file.
My high school does not participate in GAfutures. What should I do?
All accredited Georgia public and private high schools provide transcript data through GAfutures to facilitate awarding the HOPE and Zell Miller scholarships. If your school does not participate in GAfutures or a GAfutures transcript is unavailable, you may submit your academic record through another approved method.
What if I do not have a Social Security Number?
Many Georgia schools assign a temporary identification number to students who do not have a Social Security Number (SSN). In some cases, these numbers begin with “999.” When creating your GAfutures account, use the identification number provided by your school and you will be able to request a transcript using this pre-assigned faux-SSN. If you are still not able to submit a GAfutures transcript, self report your unweighted grades on the Common App and have your school send in a transcript.
